In today’s news, our Beloved Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan) presents the Shining World Compassion Award to an animal-people rescue organization based in Dnipro, Ukraine (Ureign). City initiative in Âu Lạc, also known as Vietnam, assists residents in transitioning away from dog- and cat-people meat trade, major forest conservation milestone reached in French Guiana, desalination to supply 100% of Cyprus’s drinking water by next year, miraculous rescues occur in Venezuela following devastating twin earthquakes in June, US agri-food technology startup advances sustainable plant protein innovation, and golden retriever-person provides supportive care at UK psychiatric facility.

Water safety starts with knowing what to do. I’d like to share a tip on what to do in a rip current. A rip current is a narrow, fast-moving channel of water that flows away from the shore at surf beaches. It doesn’t pull you under the water, it pulls you away from the beach. If you’re caught in a rip current, don’t panic and don’t try to swim directly back to shore or against the breaking waves. Instead, swim parallel to the shoreline to get out of the current. If large waves push you back into it, stay calm and swim at an angle with the waves, allowing them to help carry you toward shore. If you can’t escape, wave for help and float or tread water to conserve energy. If you see someone caught in a rip current, throw them something that floats and alert a lifeguard. Never enter the water yourself, as many rip current fatalities occur when people attempt to rescue others. Stay calm, know what to do, and enjoy the beach safely.

Now it’s time to gently fill our nervous systems with some joy vibrations from the joke of the day entitled, “Listening to Your Body.”

Roderick joined a yoga class for the first time. His friend Elliot asked him about it:

“How did it go?”

The instructor said, “Listen to your body.”

“And what did yours say?”

“Go home. Lay on the couch.”

?!

And now we have a heartline in Mandarin Chinese, with multiple-language subtitles, from Ying-Ru in China
