In this episode, Supreme Master Ching Hai reveals the roots of violence and explains why those who create conflict are often the most in need of love. By awakening the Divine Love within through GOD’s realization, we can free ourselves and others from suffering in this world.
For many people, they are satisfied just to know that GOD exists, or just to read the Bible, or just to do some little prayers here and there. But to many people, other people, these are not enough. They want to know GOD truly. They want to be able to converse with GOD, to hear GOD’s advice on everyday problems, and to be able to be closer – literally closer – to GOD. And for these people, we are here to offer a little help.
Because war and troubles, misunderstanding, anger, hatred are all the outcome of this frustration of not knowing GOD. All the evils that we think mankind is capable of doing come from this thirst for the knowledge of GOD. It is ironic, paradoxical, but it is true. It is a desperate call for help. Because they just don’t know what else to do. So they have to resort to violence just like you scream out loud. Why is it so? Because even though we look like a human and we wear this human body, we are the children of GOD; we are the Holy Spirit. We used to live in Heaven, where we had absolutely everything, anytime we wanted.
“Know you not, that you are the temple of GOD, and the Holy Spirit lives within you.” That means that we are nothing but GOD inside. Because we are that GOD, we are not used to having to work for the things that we need, not used to having to ask for the things that we want, and not even having them. So sometimes we feel frustrated, we feel angry, and we feel hopeless and helpless. And so sometimes, this frustration breeds violence, breeds hatred, and breeds, eventually, war.
So the people who make war are the people who really are the most desperate for love and for help. But because they are so fixed in their desperation, it is also not very easy to bring love, wisdom, and understanding into their state of being. Just like somebody is so sick already, he doesn’t even recognize doctors, least of all being grateful to them. So before we fall into this desperate state, we had better take care of ourselves, and take care that we can find the love of GOD so closely, more practically, so that we don’t ever need to experience this kind of helpless situation of deepest desperation.
No doubt GOD loves all of us, no matter what we do. [Lord] Jesus forgives all of us, no matter what we do, even to Him personally. He has forgiven His enemies and prayed for them: “FATHER, forgive them, because they don’t know what they are doing.”
Every time I read something about [Lord] Jesus again, I always want to cry. Such a great Love can only come from GOD. We ourselves are all children of GOD. Why don’t we have this Love? We do have. It’s just that we have not activated It. We have forgotten how. We do have love, but not to the extent of the Lord Jesus. In order to have it again, we can still try. GOD forgives all of our sins. Lord Jesus forgives us; He died for us.
And we will always be equal in the Eyes of the LORD. Then why must we know GOD? Why must we activate this Love? Why should we make any effort at all? Anybody knows? Alright, since you pretend you don’t know, I will pretend that I know. I am also very shy, but if all of us are shy, then we just sit here, and I look at you, you look at me, and then two hours pass, and then we go home. Because if we do not activate this Love, then we will suffer ourselves. And of course, we sometimes bring suffering to our loved ones, to whoever is in contact with us, and to our surroundings; sometimes to our nation, if we make a wrong decision, a very unloving decision, like making war, for example. We must activate this Love in order not to know GOD, but to know that we are a part of GOD, we are one with GOD, just like the Lord Jesus said, “I and my FATHER are one.”
We cannot be one with GOD by talking alone, by thinking alone, or by wishing alone. We have to actually be one with GOD, be GOD on Earth. We have to join that Ocean again, become one with the Ocean of Love. Then we can represent GOD on this planet. All of HIERS magnificent qualities, all of HIERS loving kindness, we can represent and bring love, joy, and kindness, happiness to all the people around us.
After knowing GOD – after knowing, truly knowing, I mean, almost physically knowing, literally knowing that the Holy Spirit lives within us – we have two choices.
The first choice is we continue to live the way we did before, but be assured that, “OK, now I know GOD. HES is there. No problem.” Like, continue doing what we do. And we can also continue knowing GOD more every day – more and more convinced of GOD’s presence, of GOD within us – or we can even discontinue. But once we experience, we will not forget.
And another choice is more noble. It’s that we dedicate our lives, our knowledge to the betterment of our brothers’ and sisters’ lives and happiness. The reason why we respect the renunciates, the nuns, and the monks, is because we feel they act like GOD. They’re almost like GOD on Earth. They’re so kind. They’re so loving. They’re so unconditional. They dedicated their life for the sake of other people. We can also be like them, but in the world, inside our family, in our job, in our present situation, and continue to be an anonymous kind of Saint.
By knowing GOD, we will be Christians, we will be Saints, quietly in our walk of life. And we will bless people, also, quietly. Nobody will even know about it.
