The Islamabad High Court in Pakistan has passed a judgment prohibiting authorities from poisoning, shooting or indiscriminately killing stray dog-people in the city of Islamabad, and ordered the government to adopt a humane, science-based population control system. The court also ruled that euthanasia will only be permitted when a qualified veterinarian has certified in writing that a dog-person is rabid, incurably ill, or dangerously aggressive. Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro delivered the judgment relying on the Quranic verses – Surah Al-An’am (6:38) and Surah Ar-Rahman (55:10) as well as Prophet Muhammad’s (Peace be Upon Him) (vegetarian) saying that cruelty to an animal-person is as reprehensible as cruelty to a human being. Thank you, Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro of the Islamabad High Court, for your compassionate ruling. May your judgment provide an important legal precedent for animal-people protection in your nation, in the Almighty’s Guidance. Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan): “Respectfully present to the Honorable Justice Khadim Hussain Soomro of the Islamabad High Court the Shining World Leadership Award for Compassion-Justice with highest Esteem and Tearful Gratitude for Your Honor’s exemplary Protection, Benevolence, saving of lives, Kindness, Saintly Justice, and love for the helpless innocents of the animal-people’s Kingdom. May GOD Grace Your soul with abundant Blessings and Love here and hereafter. With all respect and admiration in the Name of GOD!”
