The Ministry of Health has released its guidance indicating that vegetarian and vegan diets as adequate for children under two years old when properly planned. According to the Ministry, the diets can be made suitable through careful planning and attention to iron and vitamin B12 requirements, which can be met through supplementation. Moreover, mothers are encouraged to breastfeed until at least the age of two to provide infants with a nutritional base. Some benefits of vegan diets for children include improved cardiovascular markers, lower body mass index, less body fat, and reduced risk factors for heart disease, hypertension, and type 2 diabetes. Children following the diets may also consume higher levels of fiber, vitamin C, folate, magnesium, and iron compared to those eating animal-people meat-based diets. Up to date, Chile is a Shining World Leadership Award for Protection recipient. Bravo, Chile, for your thoughtful support of children’s nutrition. May all children thrive on well-planned, wholesome vegan regimes, in Celestial radiance.
