I grew up in a rather unusual family. My adoptive mother was both a midwife and a spirit medium, and there was an altar in our home. When villagers encountered intractable or complicated illnesses, they often came to seek divination. They’d even knock on our door in the middle of the night for urgent matters, which made me very uncomfortable. After I got older, in order to elevate my level of consciousness, I visited various major temples, listened to masters’ lectures, read sutras, and recited them at home. However, none of those satisfied me. One day on the bus, I happened to see a sample booklet by Master. The sublime teachings in the book brought me sudden enlightenment, and I firmly believed that Master is the One I had longed for and dreamed to follow.
I had started adopting stray animal-people before initiation. Up to now, there have been more than a dozen in total. Before passing away, they’d all let me know in advance. I saw that in their past lives, they had all been humans! One of them had been a plump middle-aged woman, who had fallen into the animal realm because she had killed someone; another one a young man, like a gang member. There was a little dog-person whose eyes were completely blind and who couldn’t walk on her four legs. She couldn’t eat, drink, or relieve herself. The vet said she wouldn’t live long. I put her downstairs and played Master’s Buddha Chanting on the table, then went upstairs to work. Not long after, a neighbor downstairs told me they heard a girl crying continuously in my home. I went downstairs and surprisingly, found that she, who had been unable to walk, broke free from the box and crawled 10 meters away, and was crying beneath the table. She sounded like a little girl. I saw that in her previous life, she had been a young girl of 17 to 18 years old in a red velvet outfit. After they passed away, I missed them very much. One time, while attending Quan Yin group meditation at Hsihu Ashram, I suddenly saw the Gate of Heaven open wide, and the dog-persons all appeared in human forms. They were wearing Quan Yin initiation identification cards and looked so happy.
I often hear music drifting from Heaven around the crown of my head. Now allow me to offer a song to express my gratitude to Master.
“Peace Bell”
Ding-dang — the bell of peace rings. Ding-dang — may all enjoy peace and safety.
Li-dang — compassionate benefaction. Li-dang — happy joy.
May all beings soon be free from suffering and attain happiness, live in peace and delightful joy, be liberated from impermanence and the suffering of the three evil paths within the six realms of samsara, transcend birth and death, and forever enjoy bliss. Meng-Lu from Taiwan (Formosa)
