Evenings with the Stars, Part 1 of 10

Following the resounding success of the benefit concert, “One World ...of Peace Through Music,” held at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California, USA, on December 18, 1998, the unforgettable atmosphere and heartfelt emotions of the event continue to resonate deeply with all who attended. Thousands of audience members were not only captivated by the grandeur of the event and the inspiring performances by world-renowned artists, but were also profoundly moved by the Love, Compassion, and Generosity of Supreme Master Ching Hai (vegan). As part of Her noble humanitarian efforts, Supreme Master Ching Hai made a benevolent contribution of US$100,000 to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, an international nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting seriously ill children and their families, and a contribution of US$150,000 to the world’s premier center for treating and researching terminal childhood diseases – St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

To express their sincere gratitude for Supreme Master Ching Hai’s extraordinary kindness and humanitarian Spirit, Mr. Richard Shadyac, President and Chief Executive Officer of American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC), the fundraising organization for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Ms. Laurie Goldman, Executive Director of Starlight Children’s Foundation, personally wrote letters inviting Her to attend their prestigious annual Hollywood galas and anniversary celebrations as a special guest. In addition, Mr. Edvard Akopyan, President of 21st Century Entertainment and one of the distinguished VIP guests at the “One World ...of Peace Through Music” concert, also enthusiastically invited Supreme Master Ching Hai to attend the prestigious “Oscar Gala Night of 100 Stars,” an event attended by more than 150 prominent Hollywood celebrities, as an expression of his admiration and respect.

Many celebrities sent their heartfelt greetings to Supreme Master Ching Hai. In interviews with a member of our Supreme Master Ching Hai International Association (all vegans), they recounted memorable experiences from attending “One World ...of Peace Through Music,” praising Her exceptional artistic expression as reflected in Her paintings, jewelry, fashion, and poetry – each conveying beauty, creativity, and spiritual depth. They were also moved by Her boundless Love and Compassion, which inspired the impressive performances throughout the event and made it a memorable, uplifting celebration of peace, love, and humanitarian spirit. At 7:30 PM, Supreme Master Ching Hai made Her entrance. Richard Shadyac came to greet Supreme Master Ching Hai and escort Her to the VIP room.

For entertainment, comedian Dennis Miller stirred the room with laughter. And legendary singer James Taylor performed all of his greatest hits through the years.

Among the VIPs who greeted Supreme Master included former famed television talk show host Phil Donahue; dinner co-chairs and the three children of St. Jude’s founder – legendary actor Danny Thomas, Tony, Terre and Marlo Thomas.

Judge Roy Paul; New York attorney Albert Lian and his companion; Event Coordinator Linda Levine; Film Director and Producer Georges Chamchoum; Dr. Ching Hon Pui – one of leading medical researchers in the nation; Maxine Moshay – Executive Director of the Amie Karen Cancer Fund for Children; and actor Steven Seagal – the star of such hit movies as “Under Siege,” “Executive Decision” and “Above the Law,” and his companion Arisa Wolf.

Steven Seagal was particularly surprised and impressed upon learning of Supreme Master Ching Hai’s artistic talents. Out of spontaneity, Supreme Master gave Mr. Seagal and Ms. Wolf each an SM celestial ring that She had designed Herself. Amazingly, the rings fit them perfectly.

Supreme Master Ching Hai moved the hearts of those who attended the gala that night and above all, left a lasting mark of love for the children in need of hope.

The next year, St. Jude invited Supreme Master Ching Hai to their 20th annual Hollywood gala. Unfortunately, Supreme Master was unable to attend due to an upcoming lecture tour. She sent Her love to St. Jude and wished them much success in their continuing efforts to help the children.
