[…] One day, a stranger, a distinguished guest, passed by and visited the doctor, asking for a place to stay for a while. It seemed he was a traveler with no place to stay, and not much money. Maybe he had “talent” but no “wealth.” There is a big difference between “talent” and “wealth.” And so, he stayed there for a while. The doctor was a very kind person and immediately let him stay. […]
This doctor saw that the stranger was good looking, extraordinary, distinctive, so he treated him very… (Warmly.) Huh? (Warmly.) Warmly. Very kindly and warmly. Very nicely, taking good care of him, very sincerely. He gave him everything, taking good care of him, without thinking about finances, or the expenditure or anything. Nothing. He didn’t think much, and neither did he think of any reciprocation. Nothing. Seeing that person was nice, but was perhaps stuck there in an uncomfortable situation, he just helped and took good care of him. Seeing that person’s appearance was very good, he respected him very much.
This guest was very grateful to him, grateful to the doctor. Therefore, before he left the Lu village… That place was called Lu village before. Before leaving, he gave him a pill, a medicine pill, right? (A pill.) A pill. (Yes.) A pill. He let him swallow it. Oh! This doctor, after swallowing it, his wisdom Eye was opened. Strange. If there was such medicine, we would just go and buy it. No need to follow Supreme Master Ching Hai and meditate 15 hours every day. “Unbearable.” He just took a pill and his wisdom Eye was opened, so they say. Oh! His eyes became like X-ray. Like a mirror. He could see anything that normal people couldn’t see. He could see it all. He could see through the wall, through people’s bodies. And could see through walls and anything. Sometimes, he could see things from afar.
Recently, there is one such person in the US. Edgar Cayce. Somebody like that. What’s his name? The American, you know? (Edgar Cayce.) Cayce. Edgar Cayce. Yeah. He also has this… Ay! You see, you see. If you are forced by situation, you will… He also had that kind of ability. He could see through people’s bodies, knowing what’s there in your internal organs, what’s the cause of your illness, and what you did to cause that illness. He was very famous. And sometimes, he could see the illness thousands of kilometers away. (Recently?) He just closed his eyes… Recently. He is already dead. No hope. Don’t keep asking. I also don’t know where he is now. She still wants to find him. Your illness I can see it even with eyes closed. No need to find him. Your illness is because of karma. I see it clearly. When you laugh, doesn’t your stomach hurt more? It’s alright if you don’t laugh too much. You see, I can diagnose your illness like magic. And if this area feels more uncomfortable when wearing clothes, it’s because you’ve eaten too much vegan ham. As you sow, so shall you reap. What other illness do you want?
The American, Edgar Cayce, sometimes wanted to see a patient from a long distance, he would simply close his eyes and lie there as if sleeping. He could tell what illness a patient, thousands of kilometers away, is suffering from, and how serious it is, because he could enter the body of the sick person, or see through him. Sometimes, he would say that he was at a certain place, where he could look into the patient’s lungs and see a lump, such as cancer or things like that. His findings matched exactly what the doctor diagnosed later. It was truly like that. He was not cheating. That person was truly talented. Originally, he was just an ordinary person, with nothing special about him. However, when he was about 30 years old, he became very sick one time, and after recovering, he gained this supernatural power. So, you see, sometimes illness can be a good thing.
But since it’s Lunar New Year, we shouldn’t… talk about birth, ageing, sickness, death and such things. We are talking about the doctor. This doctor was very good. Throughout all ages, there have always been such doctors. It’s not that we don’t have them now. There are still some in mainland China. In China, one of our fellow disciples there is very, very famous. You can say that he is like Bian Que, or a disciple of Bian Que. But I can’t reveal his name, as that wouldn’t be good for him. (OK.) Because he is already so, so famous, well-known throughout the whole country. Our fellow initiate. For example like that. He is just one of them. There are a few others in China who are very good. OK. Let’s not talk about the US. Let’s come back to the Warring States.
In the Warring States, Qin Huan, after swallowing the pill given by the guest, his eyes became so bright that he could see through people’s bodies, and walls and whatnot. That’s why he could diagnose diseases… (Diagnose illnesses like magic.) His diagnosis became even more accurate, more extraordinary. It agrees; walls also nod. In the past, when people lectured, the rocks nodded. (The wall nodded.) Now, not only do the rocks nod, the walls can also nod. Therefore, in that era, because he diagnosed illness like magic, at that time, people changed his name again, calling him the “incarnation of Bian Que.”
One time, he went to Guo State, It seemed to be Guo State. Was there such a state? OK. Never mind which state. Who cares. It was just a state. He went there, One time, the Crown Prince seemed to have caught a cold, probably very serious cold, what we call influenza. (Influenza.) Influenza? Why would colds become “trendy”? Strange. Fashion can be trendy, but colds also become trendy. Everything can become a fashion in China. And then, he died. He died of a very serious cold. Qin Huan wanted to go in and take a look at his corpse. Eventually, he said he could bring him back to life. He really did.
He massaged him for a while, and did acupuncture for a while, then that person came back to life. And putting some medicine in his mouth; he did come to life. Maybe that man was just unconscious. Ah? (Press the philtrum.) (Shock.) Ah? (Shock. Shock.) Shock? (Meaning fainted.) (Temporarily stopped breathing.) Temporarily stopped breathing. Why not just stop breathing forever. What do we breathe for? Troublesome. Since it’ll stop sooner or later, why do we have to breathe? He brought the man back to life. And so, the prince lived again. So, his reputation became even more renowned.
One time, he went to Linzi in Qi State, and Duke Huan of Tian Qi received him for some unknown reason. Maybe because he was famous and the duke wanted to see him. And so, he went into the palace to pay respects to Duke Huan of Tian Qi. When he entered and looked at the Duke Huan of Tian Qi, he said, “Ah, my Lord, there is currently illness on you, inside your flesh. You’d better receive treatment immediately. Otherwise, it could become more serious, become more and more severe.” The Duke Huan of Tian Qi said, “I don’t have any illness!” Five days later, Qin Huan went to pay respect to Duke Huan of Tian Qi again and said, “My Lord, today, the illness has got into your blood vessels. You definitely have to receive treatment.” Duke Huan of Tian Qi just laughed without answering him. “Heh!” Like that. Meaning looking down upon him.
Five days later, after five days, Qin Huan asked to enter and pay respects to Duke Huan of Tian Qi again. He reported to the duke: “My Lord, today, the illness has gone into your stomach and intestines. You have to be treated right away, otherwise, it’d be very dangerous, it would be too late.” Now Duke Huan of Tian Qi didn’t even laugh, but just looked away from him. Just like when your Master is angry, She would put on a long face and look at the wall, and then the ceiling. Qin Huan understood and dared not say anything anymore. Having received no answer, he went out. Seeing Qin Huan leave, the duke said to his people, “Those doctors are too talkative. They have nothing to do and just want to get patients, going out to find patients like that. I’m perfectly fine as I am, and he still said that I’m sick?”
Five days later, Qin Huan asked to pay respects to Duke Huan of Tian Qi again. But, upon entering, and taking a look at Duke Huan of Tian Qi, he didn’t say anything and immediately stepped back and ran off. The Duke Huan of Tian Qi was very surprised, because that man normally was very talkative. “Why is it that when he saw me today, he just ran away?” He told someone to call him back right away, and asked, “What had happened? What had gone wrong? Why did he behave like that?” Qin Huan then told those eunuchs, the eunuchs of the duke, he said, “The illness of my Lord has now gone into his muscles and bones. There is no cure anymore. In the beginning, it was still in his flesh, he could just apply some ointment and it’d be cured. If the illness enters into the blood vessels, we could use injection and acupuncture to suck out the poison. And if the illness has got into the stomach and intestines, he could take medicine and it’d be OK, just a little slower. Now the disease has reached the bones, and got into the bone…” Bones, and what is inside the bones? (Marrow.) “…into the bone marrow. Even if God comes down, there’s nothing that Hes can do.”
As expected, a few days later, Duke Huan of Tian Qi became very sick, and he summoned Qin Huan, but he had already gone far away. And then those imperial physicians wholeheartedly tried their best, using all the means they could to treat his disease, but it was all in vain, and then he was kaputt, went to see Amitābha Buddha or any other gods, if he had that much blessed rewards. So, this is the story. There are so many strange stories in China. But this is probably a real story. It’s recorded in history. Yes or no? (Yes.) At what time, the kings were sick and when and where the kings grew pimples, all were recorded. All written in history. So, this is not a myth or fiction.
Normally, the king (duke) was also very arrogant. Talking to him was very difficult. Besides, when he himself didn’t feel that he was sick, yet you say, “You’re ill,” of course he wouldn’t believe. He could not believe you. Besides, their position made them think that people came to seek connections, wanting to be famous and so on. He didn’t feel any illness at all. How could it still be like this? (Yes.) How can you say he’s ill? But some diseases are like that. It could come on very quickly, entering before you even realize it. Then, suddenly, you collapse and pass away. That’s how it is. Some diseases are even faster. In just a few hours, your internal organs are all ruined, and then you are dead. Or the bacteria keep eating your flesh, until you become a rotten piece of flesh, and then you die. Very fast, very painful. Some are like that. Therefore, sometimes there’s no need for war, no need for anyone to kill us. Our karma will probably destroy us very, very quickly. Then, if we encounter a good doctor but don’t trust him, of course it’d be even faster.
